Viva will close the Audi Dublin International Film Festival 2016

It has been confirmed that Viva will be the closing title for the 2016 fest, which runs from the 18th to the 28th of February. It's the latest feature from Paddy Breathnach (I Went Down, Man About Dog) and tells the story of a young man in Cuba who finds a new lease on life on stage as drag performer Viva.

The film has already earned rave reviews from the Telluride Film Festival and is shortlisted for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar and will be coming home to Irish audiences in grand style.

"It is a thrill and a delight to finally be showing Viva to a home audience," said screenwriter Mark O’Halloran. "To have it screen as the closing film at ADIFF makes that all the sweeter."

Commenting on the announcement, Gaby Smyth, Chair of the Board of Audi Dublin International Film Festival said: "It is entirely fitting that this year’s festival finishes with Viva, an uplifting and beautiful film from two of Ireland’s finest film-makers: director Paddy Breathnach and writer Mark O’Halloran. In a year of very high calibre Irish film-making, we can be justly proud of closing the festival with this exceptional work."

The Audi Dublin International Film Festival runs from the 18th to the 28th of February 2016.
