Apple forced to make it easier to move to Android
The difficulty in switching between iOS and Android has been cited as one of the major reasons why so few users ever leave the Apple ecosystem. That's naturally good news for the American tech giant but less ok when it comes to competition law.
Now it seems Apple is under pressure from telecoms companies in Europe who are saying that the current system makes any kind of negotiations difficult. If there's next to no threat of losing your current user base, there's no reason to play fair with anyone else.
In 2015, Apple claims 30 percent of new iPhones were being used by people who had come from Android - that was in the wake of an official app called Move to iOS which was created to make the transition in that direction easier. There's no word from Apple yet on the creation of an app to take users from iOS to Android and we would expect any progress in that regard to be slow.
