At Irish cinemas January 15th

Irish director Lenny Abrahamson brings his latest film home this week, and there are some other Oscar hopefuls in the mix including a film which might finally earn Leonardo DiCaprio his Oscar glory.

Room

The director of What Richard Did and Frank has his biggest success to date in this adaptation of Emma Donoghue's emotional novel. The film is about a boy and his mother who spend their days in a world the size of a single room but it's also about much more than that. Starring Brie Larson and set to bring home a huge number of awards.

Creed

You might think that the idea of a spin off from Rocky is a terrible one but Creed will make you believe. It's the tale of what happens when the son of Apollo Creed looks for help from Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and there are a few really great montages and a hell of an ending.

The Revenant

Leonardo DiCaprio teams up with the director of Birdman for one of the most unique films that you'll ever see. It's based on a book but also draws from the life of the actual person Hugh Glass who went through some totally harrowing times in the wilds of not-yet-America in the early 1800s. It's a breathtaking film and also a hard watch at times.
