VIDEO High Rise first teaser - with Tom Hiddleston

What do you get when you take director Ben Wheatley (A Field in England, Sightseers) and couple him with the work of author J.G. Ballard (Crash, Super-Cannes)? Well the answer is filmed insanity called High Rise.

Here's the first teaser.

That just looks batty, though we have to admit to being quite engaged by Wheatley's unique form of battiness, from Kill List to A Field in England and the hilarious vulgar Sightseers. He even has a US funded creature feature on the way, as well as a period action thriller called Free Fire.

Back to High Rise, check out the actual official summary we were sent:

1975. Two miles west of London, Dr. Robert Laing moves into his new apartment seeking soulless anonymity, only to find that the building’s residents have no intention of leaving him alone. Resigned to the complex social dynamics unfolding around him, Laing bites the bullet and becomes neighbourly. As he struggles to establish his position, Laing’s good manners and sanity disintegrate along with the building. The lights go out and the lifts fail but the party goes on. People are the problem. Booze is the currency. Sex is the panacea. Only much later, as he sits on his balcony eating the architect’s dog, does Dr. Robert Laing finally feel at home…..

This is how Studio Canal wants to sell their movie - jolly good show! In addition to Tom Hiddleston (who seems to be doing his best Michael Fassbender impression), the film also stars Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller and Luke Evans.

High Rise will be in cinemas in March 2016.
