VIDEO: The Get Down trailer - Netflix goes musical
Check out the first trailer for The Get Down.
That's how you make a trailer!
Musical TV series are pretty rare things, and for a reason - they're very hard to pull off. So Netflix roped in Baz Luhrmann to get this particular party started. He's the fellow behind Romeo + Juliet and the spectacle of Moulin Rogue and the more recent The Great Gatsby. He knows his way around a song and dance number and will be putting all of that talent onto the smaller screen with The Get Down.
He's directing all 13 one hour episodes which tell the tale of New York in the 1970s and the broken and beaten down city which gave birth to hip-hop, punk and disco. There's a huge cast including Jummy Smits, Giancarlo Esposito and young Jaden (son of Will) Smith and it all looks like a heady mix of music, violence and drama.
The Get Down will be coming to Netflix in 2016, and it seems like this is just the first part of a wider saga. We can't wait.
