VIDEO: Blind gamer completes Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time after five years

Perhaps this will inspire you not to give up on a game no matter how difficult it seems. Terry Garrett, who lost his sight when he was 10, has beaten Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time after almost five years of trying.

He started on his attempt to beat the game back in May, 2011 and wrapped up the game on January 2nd, 2016. That’s how you start the New Year on a high note.

“It has been long in the making, but I have finally accomplished my goal!,” Garrett wrote on the YouTube description. “Who knows what is next! Thanks for all those who have stuck with me through this series even after it seemed like I was giving up.”

In one early video, Garrett shows off his gaming setup. It features stereo sound so that he can identify where sounds are coming from and use them to get his bearing within the game world, and a Nintendo emulator, which means he can save and load game states quickly.

You can see his final showdown with Ganon in his latest video. Incredible.
