The Revenant presents incredible survival stories
Believe it believe it not, The Revenant is based on a true story. It draws from the life of fur trapper Hugh Glass who was mauled by a bear and left for dead in the wilds of what is now South Dakota in 1823. But the man refused to give in to death and that story has now been retold with massive movie star Leonardo DiCaprio and direction by the guy who made Birdman.
It's a pretty incredible story and the studio is paying tribute to other amazing tales of survival with a series of videos - like this one featuring a woman called Marina Chapman who also shouldn't be alive today.
It's a bit weird to move from this very real, and harrowing, account to Leo in a beard but the cast and crew of The Revenant all put a huge amount of effort into making the feature as realistic and visceral as possible, and the result has been earning rave reviews around the world. We can't wait to see it.
