The Force Awakens won't feature as Battlefront DLC

Star Wars Battlefront's free Battle of Jakku DLC is the closest that Star Wars fans will get to content related to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The Force Awakens won't feature as Battlefront DLC

EA broke the news that DLC "for this release of Star Wars Battlefront" will tie into the original trilogy. There are four DLC releases planned, featuring new maps, weapons, heroes, and villains.

That means that we won't be running around iconic maps as new heroes or villains like Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, or Captain Phasma any time soon.

But there is hope that we'll get to play as them at some point. We may just have to wait for a second instalment of Star Wars Battlefront. Unfortunately, that's unlikely to be released any time soon.

DICE is currently working on Battlefield 5, so it may be 2017 before we see another Star Wars Battlefront. That timing may work well as Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released then too.

For now, we'll have to make do with the Battle of Jakku DLC, which is available to all Star Wars Battlefront players for free.
