Deadpool is a real movie that's actually being made, with the studio behind the X-Men franchise allowing millions of dollars to be spent on something that's going to be absolutely and totally not safe for work. And the latest trailer confirms just how messed up the real film is going to be.

This was a real Christmas treat.

So there's a lot going on here but the main thing is that it looks like director Tim Miller and star Ryan Reynolds might have pulled it off. The idea of making a big screen take on the character sounded like it was next to impossible, given the fact that Deadpool doesn't like to be fenced in by normal narratives and frequently just chats away to the reader. How does that fit into the very seriously made X-Men universe?

The short answer - it doesn't. Thankfully it looks like this movie is just going to be a completely free wheeling exercise in entertainment. And after the mis handling of Fantastic Four, it has to be said that Fox could do with something a little lighter. Whether it will make any money is an entirely separate question. As of right now we're going to go ahead and guess that it will be a hit with critics but have surprisingly low box office, mostly because people just aren't aware of the character. That said, Reynolds has mentioned a couple of times that the budget was quite small, so it may be enough to turn a profit and we may even get to see a sequel.

Deadpool is out in February 2016.
