EA is working on a Star Wars RPG
An ad was posted on EA's career's site that reveals what might lie in store. “Bring your system game design skills and savvy and your love of star wars to visceral games, embracing and contributing to the project vision in areas of hero control/mechanics, AI behaviors, combat/weapons, class design, skills/progression, enemy design, story and boss encounters.,” the ad reads.
While little is known about what Visceral has planned, that sounds like a pretty solid foundation. Another reason to be somewhat optimistic is that former Ubisoft producer Jade Raymond is joined by Uncharted writer Amy Hennig. That's a lot of proven experience crammed into one team.
The Star Wars universe has plenty of stories to tell. Thirty years passed between the Battle of Endor and the events of The Force Awakens, so perhaps Visceral will tackle that time period. Or maybe we'll see something running concurrently with the timing of the new trilogy.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now out in cinemas and it's been an early success. So expect to see plenty more games and tie-ins in the coming years.
