Users previously could choose to automatically upload pictures from their smartphone to a private Facebook folder. But that all changes come January, according to Techcrunch.

As with the controversial implementation of Facebook Messenger, users will be forced to download the app if they want to continue syncing their photos automatically.

If you have previously synced photos, they will be available in the Moments app. Meanwhile, those who don't want to download the app will be able to download a .zip file of their photos or delete them from the main Facebook website.
