VIDEO X-Men Apocalypse trailer gets intense

X-Men Apocalypse is coming, and the first trailer is absolutely epic.

There are several reasons why this is a bit of a big deal. For one - we've heard that this film will bring the current crop of X movies to a close, potentially closing out the loop started by Bryan Singer all the way back in 2000. It's fitting then that the director returns to the helm once more (after the excellent Days of Future Past) and there could even be some major casualties this time around.

It's also a pretty huge story, but then we've come to expect that from our tentpole movies. If anything it's becoming increasingly difficult to believe the stakes for every subsequent blockbuster, with the fate of the planet being decided again and again by various comic book crews.

The cast is full of new and returning players including James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Sophie Turner, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Evan Peters and Oscar Isaac as the big bad. This one is going to be a little bit epic.

X-Men Apocalypse is in cinemas in May 2016.
