VIDEO Amazing teaser trailer for The BFG!

Roald Dahl's The BFG is coming back to the big screen, and the first teaser trailer is pretty magical.

That's a pretty great teaser, and one that wisely recalls the original without being full of spoilers - especially the face of this Big Friendly Giant. The book was originally published by Roald Dahl in 1982 and told the story of Sophie - a young orphan who comes into contact with an extraordinary being.

We have fond memories of the 1989 animated film featuring the voice of David Jason but this is a much glossier affair, with a lot of studio money behind it and a budget no doubt stretching into the hundreds of millions as its part of a collaboration between Disney, Dreamworks and more.

The project has been in the works since the early 90s, with director Steven Spielberg coming on board in 2014 for the major shoot. And he brought a collaborator with him, casting Mark Rylance as the BFG. They had just finished working on Bridge of Spies together and we're sure that the English actor will bring a huge amount of personality to the performance capture part of giant.

The film also stars Bill Hader, Rebecca Hall and Jemaine Clement - and we're hoping they keep most of the special effects off screen in the trailers.

Final word - that hood looks just like Quentin Blake's original drawings!

The BFG is coming to cinemas in July 2016.
