I have to be honest, every time I read anything about Captain America Civil War or read up on the legacy of the comic story its based on, I just keep wishing Joss Whedon was working on it.
Age of Ultron was a perfectly watchable film but a very disappointing swansong for a genius storyteller who has helped to make the Marvel universe what it is, and he would have had a huge amount to bring to this particular tale.
That said, there's nothing wrong with the team currently at the helm.
Joe and Anthony Russo came from the TV world of Arrested Development and Community and pretty much blew everyone away with 2014's Captain America The Winter Soldier.
And they've netted perhaps the most significant entry yet, with Civil War seeing this superhero family turning on eachother as the fallout of the previous films finally hits home.
It's going to be a truly memorable ride, provided the filmmakers can handle the frankly ridiculous number of characters on offer.
We know most of the roster - Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, Falcon, Agent 13, War Machine, Hakweye, Black Panther, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Crossbones and Spider-Man will all turn up - and that's not to mention baddie Zemo played by Daniel Bruhl and whoever the heck Martin Freeman will be playing.
It's going to be jam packed, and I can't wait to see how it all goes down.
And how are they ever going to top this with the Infinity War saga?!
