Winner of McGregor-Aldo fight will take UFC 2 cover slot

EA today revealed that the victor in the McGregor-Aldo UFC fight on December 12th will earn the cover star spot for UFC 2.

EA isn’t willing to take the risk that the cover star curse is a real thing by naming either Conor McGregor or Jose Aldo as UFC 2’s cover star. So instead, the winner of their bout will earn the honour of gracing the cover of the upcoming game.

McGregor and Aldo will face off in the octagon on December 12th in an eagerly anticipated showdown. EA is titling this the Fight for the Cover, though this may be far from the fighters’ minds on the night.

Whoever wins will join Ronda Rousey on the cover. Rousey was named as a cover star of UFC 2 just days before being floored by Holly Holm.

For years, American football fans believed that there was a cover curse as the athlete featured on the annual Madden title would go on to have an off season or get injured. Rousey’s fall from grace did little to dampen this superstition.

UFC 2 will be released in spring 2016.
