The Revenant - Breathless new TV spot and MPAA rating

Leo DiCaprio is having tough times in The Revenant - he's a fur trapper who is left for dead after being mauled by a bear and that's not the end of the story.

Here's the latest extended TV spot.

We're willing to bet that bear attack is truly terrifying, and that we're going to linger in the shots for a long time while Leo's Hugh Glass desperately tries to survive. And that's just the beginning, with the character emerging to get revenge on the people who left him behind, including Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson.

As it it wasn't obvious enough that the film is going to be a tough watch, it has also just been rated by the MPAA. They've given it an R rating, which is hardly surprising, for the following:

"R for strong frontier combat and violence including gory images, a sexual assault, language and brief nudity."

None of that is especially surprising, we're pretty sure that 'frontier combat' wasn't fun for anyone involved. The sexual content is a little more unexpected, there's no hint of it from the promos so far. The film is directed by Birdman helmer Alejandro González Iñárritu and looks set to gain some serious awards attention when it arrives in cinemas in the States in December.

The Revenant is out in Ireland and the UK on the 15th of January 2016.
