Straight Outta Compton getting a director's cut
It's an easygoing look at the creation, rise and fall of hop hop group N.W.A. with some great tunes, decent performances and a uncanny turn by O'Shea Jackson as Ice Cube. He's Ice Cube's actual son, which makes a lot of sense but it's still pretty freaky.
With all of that goodwill, the film is getting a little extra attention on its way to home video, and will arrive on digital, DVD and blu ray in a longer director's cut. It seems helmer F Gary Gray has rustled up another 20 minutes of footage, taking the biopic to two hours and 47 minutes in length. Which has potential to numb some bums, that's for sure.
The blu ray in particular will also have plenty of extra features, including further deleted scenes, a look at the casting, a commentary and behind the scenes footage. It's an appropriately packed disk for one of the sleeper hits of the year, and fans will no doubt be interested in any new footage which comes to light.
