Ok so I'm going to be honest, I didn't mind Snow White and the Huntman that much. The design was great, the action was decent... the only real issue was Kristen Stewart moping around and sapping all of the energy out of the room. So thankfully she's nowhere to be seen in the new movie.
Check out the first trailer for The Huntsman Winter's War.
Despite the attempts to make it seem super cool, it's looking a little bland at the moment. That said there's a great cast, with Stewart replaced by two kick ass women in the form of Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain. We're not totally buying Chastain's look but Blunt is always good value, even if they really should be rethinking that horrible ice casting effect she's using at the moment.
Charlize Theron is back hamming it up as The Evil Queen (that character name is slightly lacking in subtlety) and then there's Chris Hemsworth being all faux Scottish and manly and twirling things with his manly hands...
The story takes place before Snow White with Chris and Jessica being trained by Charlize to do her bidding in some kind of war. Then other stuff happens, including a feud and then an alliance with little sis Emily. It all seems a bit confusing right now, but it's good to see three female leads matched against Hemsworth, though its his name in the title.
Colin Morgan, Sam Clafin, Nick Frost, Rob Brydon and Alexandra Roach also star in the film, which was written by a bunch of people including Frank Darabont. Originally a sequel was planned but the scandalous stuff between the first film's director Rupert Sanders and young miss Stewart put paid to that in favour of a focus on Hemsworth. Which is a better idea all around really. French fella Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is directing, he previously worked on special effects for the first film as well as The Ring, One Hour Photo and Pirates of the Caribbean.
