Twitch streaming interacts with Rise of the Tomb Raider

The game comes with a new mode called Expeditions which are self contained runs through selected levels trying to get the best time or score. And if you're streaming these sessions via the Xbox One Twitch app you might be in for a surprise.

Streamers will now be able to interact with your game as you play in pretty unique way. Viewers can vote on which cards will be activated in the game next while watching. These cards come with various modifiers that can add positive or negative effects or some random fun element like big head mode. Every six minutes viewers will get to vote and the effect of the winning card will then last for five minutes.

It's an interesting idea but it's also hard to know if anyone is going to use it. With no regular multiplayer aspect Rise of the Tomb Raider might not have a very healthy existence on Twitch and this functionality will only work if people are using the Xbox One app. One other addition is the fact that if you're watching someone through that console app who is streaming via their own Xbox One you'll earn in game credits just for being around until their match ends. Which is a pretty strange idea.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is out now in the States, it comes to Xbox One and Xbox 360 in Ireland on the 13th of November 2015.
