Finland becomes first country to publish own emoji
These emoji feature things that you may, or perhaps should, associate with Finland. They are designed to reveal the weirdness and the strengths of the country and its people.
For example, the sauna, the headbanger, and the unbreakable (the Nokia 3310) are three of the emoji published as part of the sticker set. There will be more than 30 stickers available in the set.
The emoji collection will be featured in the Christmas calendar published by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on ThisisFINLAND. The calendar is “coming soon” and can also be followed on the social media channels of ThisisFINLAND.
Director for Public Diplomacy, Petra Theman, said, “The Finland emojis were designed with a tongue-in-cheek approach, but I hope that they will tell the world not only about our special features but also something about our strengths. One example is disarming honesty.”
It makes us wonder what emoji would be designed if Ireland was to publish its own.
