Ralph Fiennes will be Alfred in LEGO Batman movie

The Lego movie was a massive surprise when it landed in cinemas in February 2014, not just because it was a bit of fun but somehow managed to be fairly brilliant in its off the wall humour and gorgeous graphics.

Ralph Fiennes will be Alfred in LEGO Batman movie

And we're due to get more from that world with a fully blown sequel in 2018. Before that, its time for Batman and the movie is currently casting up.

Will Arnett will be back as Bats himself and he's set to be joined by Michael Cera as Robin and Rosario Dawson as Batgirl. And now another great actor has been added to the list in the form of Ralph Fiennes. He's going to play none other than Alfred, the most loyal butler and father figure to Bruce Wayne.

It's quite perfect casting and sees Fiennes continue on a comedy path which I honestly never considered before. He was utterly hilarious in the Grand Budapest Hotel and will likely bring plenty of wit and that cutting English accent to his role.

The film itself is currently in pre production and will be directed by Chris McKay, who previously worked on a whole lot of Robot Chicken. Sounds like pretty safe hands.

The Lego Batman movie is set for release in February 2017.
