Elizabeth Banks back to helm Pitch Perfect 3

We had already heard that the major cast would be back for Pitch Perfect 3, including Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, and now we know another significant player is also returning in the form of Elizabeth Banks.

She was a comedy supporting player and producer on the first film before becoming the director of the sequel, and delivering a pretty kick ass first feature at the same time. It's great to hear she's back, and hardly a surprise given the fact that the film once more exploded at the box office, even earning more money than Mad Max Fury Road on its opening weekend.

There's no word on the plot for the second sequel just yet but it's safe to assume there will be some element of competitive singing in the mix, and they might even manage to throw in a romantic angle which works for the first time. Or drop it entirely in favour of more aca-awesome set pieces.

Right now, Pitch Perfect 3 is set for release in August 2017. More as we get it.
