Idris Elba and J.K. Simmons join Disney's Zootopia

Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer, Jenny Slate and Tommy Chong are among the latest to be confirmed to be lending their dulcet tones to Disney’s upcoming animated film, Zootopia.

The film is set in a civilisation led by animals without the pesky interference of humans. It follows the adventure of a fast-talking fox, hoping to make it big, who is forced to go on the run after being framed for a crime he didn’t commit.

Elba will voice Chief Bogo, head of the Zootopia Police Department. This isn’t his only involvement with Disney in recent months. He will lend his voice to The Jungle Book’s Shere Khan in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation.

The comedy-adventure is directed by Byron Howard (Tangled, Bolt) and Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph, The Simpsons).

Previously announced cast members include Ginnifer Goodwin, Nick Wilde, and Shakira.

Zootopia will be released in cinemas on March 25th, 2016.
