VIDEO Jane Got a Gun trailer - Natalie Portman goes West

Right now, Jane Got a Gun is best known for having a torturous route to the big screen.

First announced with Natalie Portman in the lead role back in 2012 under the direction of Lynna Ramsey, the film later picked up Michael Fassbender, Jude Law and Bradley Cooper, who all later left the project. Then Ramsey didn't show up for the first day of the shoot, kicking off a law suit that sounds like it got nasty behind closed doors.

But there was still a movie to make. Ewan McGregor stepped in at the last minute in a significant role and Gavin O'Connor (Warrior) plopped down in the director's chair. The release was delayed from August 2014 into early 2015 before losing distrubution and moving again to February 2016.

Phew... So will it be worth the wait? Check out the first trailer to get an idea.

For all the horrors behind the scenes it looks like a pretty generic Western, albeit one with a female protagonist. The last looks decent enough, we do like a bit of Joel Edgerton, but with a budget of around $25 million (before promotion) we just can't see it doing much business.

Jane Got a Gun will (probably) be in cinemas in February 2016.
