Alan Tudyk leaves Uncharted 4 over story changes
Firefly-fella and accomplished vocal performer Alan Tudyk was set to play a part in the upcoming game, which will be the last in the series from developers Naughty Dog. But it has emerged that he's left the production, apparently over some changes to the story.
Tudyk was chatting to IGN about his new web show Con Man and he had some unusual things to say about the game:
"I liked it... they... ummm... they fired... ummm... [lets out a massive sigh] I left, I quit! [laughs] So, I didn't like it. I mean, I left because they decided to go a different way with it and so when they did that, when they changed leadership, it made my contract null and void and I was able to take that opportunity to walk away which was great because I got the experience of doing it, I made some friends - not with Naughty Dog - but I made some friends with the people that left."
So he might have been fired? Or taken the opportunity to leave. Or he might have been pushed out during a reshuffle. Either way it doesn't sound like a comfortable situation, and hopefully the internal changes won't have a negative impact on the upcoming game. These kinds of changes happen all the time and while it's a shame to lose someone like Tudyk (he was Sonny in I, Robot you know?) there's still plenty of talent in the pool at Naughty Dog.
