Smart devices are improving in functionality all the time, but battery life typically hits a plateau. New longer lasting wearables batteries are being prototyped, which could improve smartwatch battery life by around 50%.
Smartwatch batteries could be twice as good next year

Samsung SDI and LG Chem, the battery making units of Samsung and LG respectively, showed off prototypes for their longer lasting batteries during an exhibition in South Korea.

Samsung had two types of flexible batteries to demonstrate. One was a 0.3mm-thin stripe battery that it said is perfect for "hairbands and necklaces," while the other was a band battery designed to increase the life of a wearable by 50%.
