2012’s Hotel Transylvania was a mostly watchable but instantly forgettable film, and now there’s a sequel. The good news is, it’s an improvement.

The original film was famously rushed through production, with director Genndy Tartakovsky coming on board for a major rewrite and redevelopment just 18 months before release, a shockingly small turnaround for an animated feature. Thankfully he’s had a little more time for the sequel and it shows.
