OnePlus X reveal set for October 29th
OnePlus' Carl Pei has already said they'll have a new product out before the end of 2015 and the official reveal is coming soon - with events in London and Beijing planned for October 29th. The new handset is called the OnePlus X and it will be a smaller and less premium handset witih lower specs and also a cheaper asking price.
There have been numerous leaks in recent weeks about the OnePlus X, but the information seems to vary quite a bit, suggesting at least some of them are fake. It will certainly sport a smaller screen, likely a 5 inch display. We're also hearing that the rear camera will have a 13 MP sensor and that the notification slider on the side - which lets you silence the phone at a touch - will also be retained.
Other possible additions include some kind of Force Touch like ability in the display, which also appears in the latest iPhones, waterproofing and dual front speakers. Internal specs have only been vaguely mentioned so far but the processor will be a lot slower than that in the recent OnePlus 2 and it might be coupled with 2 gigs of RAM.
We're hearing the OnePlus X could retail for as little as $250 which makes it a lot of phone for the money. That said, OnePlus has been having a lot of trouble with their distribution of the recently released model, with shipping delays and open sales which managed to crash the website. It doesn't seem like the ideal time to launch another handset, when their current customer base can't buy the premium model they want.
