VIDEO First trailer for the Sherlock Christmas special - it looks fantastic

Sherlock is some damn fine TV and while the proper fourth season still doesn’t have a confirmed air date we will be getting to see these characters again quite soon.

Did you notice something different? Well this new mini-movie has its own unique style, that's because its set in Victorian London, when the original stories are set. Creator Stephen Moffat said they started trying to think about a reason for this happening then just decided to go with it - sure why not!

We don't know a lot about this special but Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are back - which is already enough to get us excited. Otherwise it seems its going to be some kind of ghost story, and that trailer certainly delves into some chilling imagery. The production looks generally lovely with the period element adding even more to this finely crafted show. Plus the BBC always pulls out all the stops for these Christmas specials.

Previously, a mini episode aired in Christmas 2013 as a prelude to the season 3 and that went out on the 24th of December. For an event like this its reasonable to assume it will get a prime position on a major holiday so expect the special to land around that time.
