Behind the scenes on gothic horror Crimson Peak

From Pan's Labyrinth and Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro, it's a gothically fantastical horror film set in England in the 1800s about a young woman who moves back to the family home of her new husband. There she meets his sister, and a whole lot of mystery.

As with many of his projects, del Toro has had Crimson Peak in the works for a long time, originally positioning it as his follow up to 2006's Pan's Labyrinth. That didn't come to pass, and Hellboy, the drawn out process of The Hobbit and Pacific Rim kept him away from it for many years. Thankfully he managed to retain the project and also, somewhat miraculously, secure a massive $55 million budget - pretty much unheard of for an r-rated horror project at a time when everyone is going found footage.
