Under the Skin director makes new Channel 4 idents - they're really weird
Jonathan Glazer is one of the more interesting movie directors around. Best known for titles like Sexy Beast, he also crafted Birth with Nicole Kidman and 2013's unsettling sci-fi flick Under the Skin - which I absolutely adored. Mostly because it was intensely screwed up and unsettling.
Those are qualities which Glazer also brings to a range of new network idents for Channel 4, which have just been unveiled. These are the bits that go between the shows, often with some continuity announcer prattling over them. Channel 4 has had many famous ones in the past, with the last couple of years mostly using those flybys of regular looking landscapes that have a giant number '4' hidden in them somewhere.
Now, here's an idea of what you'll see between shows - you can probably guess where Glazer's material starts.
I watched these segments in isolation first and honestly didn't get the connection at all to anything to do with Channel 4, but it seems like its all about mining that piece of material which looks like it makes up part of the original 4 symbol. That's pretty interesting, even if the rest is totally batty.
Expect to see that weird dancing bird looking thing on your TV screens soon.
