For many people, a smartphone’s camera can be a crucial part of the purchasing decision. While some are impressive, they still lag behind DSLR cameras, but not for long according to MediaTek.

MediaTek promises DSLR quality from smartphone cameras

At MediaTek’s Executive Forum, Senior VP Jeffery Ju explained that the company is developing new camera technology for mobile devices. Ju said that MediaTek’s next flagship chip, the Helio X20, will come with a range of new features to help mobile photography challenge DSLRs.

It will apparently offer better low light shots, brighter more natural colours, improved HDR and less pixelated zoom.
