The X-Files is coming back to Fox in 2016, and it's going to be big.

Here's the first full trailer for The X-Files Revival.

It pretty much has everything a fan could want - David Duchovny's Mulder still stuck on his mission to unravel the truth, forcing him to look for some help an old friend, quite naturally that's Gillian Anderson. Mitch Pileggi looks stressed and someone with a very distinctive voice is still smoking.

Creator Chris Carter is also back, along with appearances by Annabeth Gish and the Lone Gunmen folks. Newcomers include Joel McHale, Rhys Darby and Annet Mahendru - a young woman who apparently has returned from a supernatural event. We still don't know what the story will be for the new episodes but it seems at least some of it will be set in the past, with a uniformed soldier who might be tooling around Area 51. That is total speculation on our part.

There will be six episodes airing from late January 2016, with some interesting titles:

1 - My Struggle

2 - Home Again

3 - Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster

4 - Babylon

5 - Founder's Mutation

6 - My Struggle II

Even the titles suggest a mix of 'monster of the week' and an overarching story, as well as some humour added into the equation. That sounds like a good distillation of the best of The X-Files and we cna't wait to see how it turns out.

The X-Files is back on Fox in the US from the 24th of January 2016.
