VIDEO: Instagram reaches over 400 million users
The photo sharing and social site has just celebrated crossing more than 400 million users, making it one of the most popular social services in the world. A blog post from the company celebrates the news, and also highlights how the community is becoming both bigger and more diverse. More than three quarters of users are now outside of the United States, with recent newcomers mostly coming from Europe and Asia.
80 million photos are shared EVERY DAY on Instagram, and it’s an amazing way to see all corners of the world with your roving fingertips. And it doesn’t hurt that when these places appear on Instagram, they tend to look very pretty indeed.
Some celebs have joined since the last major update at 300 million users, and a few of the most followed are David Beckham and Caitlyn Jenner. At this rate, the service is picking up close to 100 million users a year and while it’s not yet close to what Facebook manages to hit, it’s still a very powerful voice in the online community.
