The Witness game gets a release date and new trailer

If you're a gamer of a certain sort, you may well recognise the name Jonathan Blow. That's because he's the creative genuis who made 2008's time and emotion bending Braid, more or less on his own. And it was pretty superb.

A long eight years have passed since that time, but Blow's next masterpiece is almost ready for its grand reveal. It's called The Witness and it finally has a release date of January 26th 2016. Here's the all new trailer.

In case you haven't guessed its a puzzle game. And it's also more than a little beautiful. You'll wander a strange, stylised island solving puzzles and progressing towards the cetnre of the island and that elusive mountain. In all, there will be over 650 puzzles, and solving all of them would take you more than 100 hours.

You won't have to go through each and every one in a regular playthrough but that sounds like a lot of content, which is what you should expect after eight years of development. Expect plenty more news ahead of the release date.

The Witness is coming to PS4, PC and Mac from the 26th of January 2016.
