VIDEO: First trailer for The Jungle Book - CG Galore

The first trailer for the new version of The Jungle Book is here, and it's coming from the director of Iron Man. Which is a bit weird.

Is it really necessary to follow up the Disney brand with the words 'From the Studio that Brought You Pirates of the Caribbean'? Do people not know what Disney is? And isn't this the company that made, you know, the original Jungle Book and decades of classic animated stories for kids of all ages? I'm not sure about pitching this as bring from the director of Iron Man either, what audience are they going for with this trailer.

Anyway, it looks gorgeous and there's one important thing to bear in mind - practically everything on screen apart from young actor Neel Sethi is entirely CG. Not just the range of practically photo real animals but also the lush and beautiful jungle around him. The tech is certainly impressive, and so is the cast including Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Christoper Walken, Idris Elba and Bill Murray as Baloo. Which is basically a stroke of genius.

There's also another version of this classic Rudyard Kipling tale on the boil, helmed by Andy Serkis and starring the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Jack Reynor. It's definitely more of a British production and ended up moving its release date out of 2016, likely to avoid competition.

The Jungle Book (with Bill Murray) is coming in April 2016.
