Apple iPhone 7 could be slimmest yet
KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo says that he’s already got some insider information on what’s coming next for Apple and the iPhone 7. And the word is that the new handset could be the slimmest yet from the American tech giants, measuring between 6.5mm and a tiny 6mm. The current iPhone 6 is already a svelte design and it measures at 6.9mm, so it will take some serious re-engineering to drop down that waistline.
In many cases when manufacturers decide to make their phones super slim you also great a trade off in important areas like battery life. We’ve also seen that handsets can become very warm to the touch without adequate space between internal components. Apple will no doubt be testing all of the variables over the next 12 months, if these rumours are partly accurate.
Do we need a phone to be as slim at 6mm? Many users prefer their handsets to have a bit of heft, especially if it comes at the cost of making it more prone to damage in the event of a fall.
Of course this is all rumour for now, and the same goes for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus which are likely to be announced by Apple on the 9th of September. They’ll be more powerful versions of the popular smartphones from 2014, likely featuring the same looks with higher internal specs. We’ve been hearing about the possible inclusion of Force Touch technology and some significant improvements to the camera modules.
