The Danish Girl is a sumptuous period piece dealing with the true story of Lili Elbe - one of the first people to have their gender re-assigned through surgery.

It's a powerful trailer and a very potent package - bringing together an emotional story with Oscar-winners Eddie Redmayne and director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech). It's pretty much a given that the actor will be getting awards notice towards the end of the year and he could well go on to Oscar glory two years running.

But it's also an important story and one which remains timely some 80 years later as people struggle daily to come to terms with their real gender amid the pressures of modern life. Lili Elbe's surgery was ground-breaking and her story could help to inspire people today who are going through the same issues.

The film also stars Alicia Vikander, Matthias Schoenaerts and Ben Whishaw. It is written by Lucinda Coxon based on the book of the same name by David Ebershoff.

The Danish Girl is in cinemas in November 2015.
