Divinity Original Sin 2 smashes Kickstarter goal in 12 hours
It’s the sequel to the 2014 game from Larian Games and offers up a complex RPG world with a four player party and some really, really complex systems.
You can play it in multiplayer and you’ll have to split off from the main group to do your own thing quite frequently. You can even do mean things to your other party members.
It all sounds pretty great and there’s way more over on the Kickstarter page.
There’s also good news for fans of the genre - the game has reached its funding goal in just 12 hours, with more than 14,000 people pledging $640,000 and counting.
Developers Larian Studios only needed $500k so they’re well on their way to a new game in the series.
Naturally, they’re all very excited including studio head Swen Vincke. Here’s what he had to say when the goal was reached.
The first campaign update for the game says that they had a major piece of new planned but that they just don’t have it ready yet - thanks to some technical issues (which sound pretty bad) and the fact that the team is out at Pax Prime in Seattle to show off Original Sin 2.
Expect more information very soon, and some cool cosplay pics.
With 34 days left on this campaign it’s a safe bet that Original Sin 2 is going to make some serious money on Kickstarter and with a project this ambitious is definitely deserves that kind of attention.
It remains to be seen what kind of stretch goals Larian offers up but right now you can secure a copy of the game for just $30 along with other extras. They’re hoping to release in December 2016.
