Bond girl Lea Seydoux is Gambits Belladonna with Channing Tatum

There's another superhero spin off movie on the way, and this time its Gambit's turn to get some solo action.

Bond girl Lea Seydoux is Gambits Belladonna with Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum is in the frame to play the Cajun X-Men - he's the one with the cool coat who throws exploding playing cards a lot and is charming. The new flick is being directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and has been looking for a leading lady for awhile now, with names like Rebecca Ferguson and Abbey Lee (Fury Road) being mooted. Now Bella has been cast, she's set to be played by Lea Seydoux.

Screen-testing has been taking place over the last couple of weeks so it seems the 30 year old French actress has impressed the right people - and it can't hurt that she's also set to have a major role in the upcoming Bond movie Spectre. She's had an eclectic career so far, featuring in the likes of Blue is the Warmest Colour Ghost Protocol and Inglourious Basterds.

Her Gambit character is Bella Donna Boudreaux - a fellow Cajun who grew up with Remy LeBeau (the kid who would be Gambit) on the streets of New Orleans. They've had a complicated relationship throughout the years following Gambit's exile and tend to find their paths crossing pretty often in the comics.

It's not known exactly how she fits into the Gambit storyline, mostly because we don't know anything about the plot as yet. But given their history and the casting of a well-known actress you can bet she'll feature heavily in the film.

Gambit is set for release in October 2016.
