Batman Arkham Knight PC patch coming soon

The PC version of Batman Arkham Knight has suffered major issues since launch - now a patch is finally on the way.

Batman Arkham Knight PC patch coming soon

Batman Arkham Knight earned strong reviews and sales on its release back in June 2015, at least on consoles.

On PC it was an entirely different matter, with publisher Warner Bros making the decision to remove the game from sale after it was revealed to be a broken, buggy mess.

Two months later and the game is still unavailable but there may be some hope on the horzion.

Warner Bros Games posted an update to the games Steampage saying that a patch is still in the works and it is likely to arrive in the next few weeks: "We are happy to confirm that we are now putting the first interim patch into testing. If all goes well, we expect to issue the patch in the next few weeks.

"We’ll be sure to report back in the next two weeks on how the testing is coming along."

Given that they’re going to be back with more information in two weeks we wouldn’t expect this new content to be live for a month or more.

The language is also telling - Warner Bros is calling this an ’interim patch’ so it is never going to address the metric ton of issues which players have had with the game.

A few elements were mentioned in the post which will be fixed however, here’s the list:

  • Reduced frame rate hitches
  • Optimized system memory and VRAM usage
  • Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers) o Min Spec AMD GPU is once again the Radeon HD 7870 2GB
  • More Robust In-Game Settings, including: o Added the ability to change settings for Max FPS to 30/60/90
  • Added toggles for Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration, and Film Grain
  • Added a “High” Texture Resolution value
  • Added Texture Filtering option
  • Added an Adaptive V-Sync option (NVIDIA only)
  • Added VRAM Usage Meter
  • Added Mouse Sensitivity Slider & Mouse Smoothing Option
  • Fixed low resolution texture bugs
  • Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)

These are the major points of concern and the kinds of things which should have been available at launch. Other items which aren’t the highest priority include:

  • Skipping the boot up splash screens
  • DLC/Season Pass content
  • Additional updates such as Photo Mode

This whole release has been a major disaster for Warner Bros and lead developers Rocksteady, tarnishing what should have been the end of an impressive trilogy of titles for The Dark Knight.

More info as we get it.
