Price war expected with arrival of new mobile network
A new report by Killbiller indicates that iD is aiming to be the most affordable provider of 4G in Ireland. Analysts claim that an average SIM-only price plan on iD will cost consumers €20.18 per month; this is €166 per year less than its competitors.
The report concludes that other operators will respond with lower prices thanks to the arrival of this new operator. “The entry of a new operator will always be watched closely by its competitors,” Killbiller’s Bart Lehane said.
“Given how competitive iD is set to be at launch, we can expect to see the other operators react with offers and updated propositions.
iD will piggy-back on the Three Ireland network; this is a requirement as part of Three’s takeover of O2 Ireland. The new operator is aiming to secure 6% of the Irish market in its first five years.
