In Irish cinemas August 21

We’ve got some teen romantic drama arriving in the form of Paper Towns as well as a horror offering from Irish director Ciaran Foy

In Irish cinemas August 21

There’s drama, comedy, horror and lots more at cinemas this week - including a return to the National Lampoon’s Vacation universe with a whole new cast, the latest adapation from author John Green’s work and horror sequel Sinister 2, which is being directed by Irish lad Ciaran Foy.

Paper Towns

From author John Green (The Fault in Our Stars) comes another story about youthful folks who are surprisingly eloquent. This time a teenage boy played by Nat Wolff will stop at nothing to find Margot (Cara Delavingne) when she goes missing. Great soundtrack and a fun script for this teen drama.

Pressure

Danny Huston stars as one of a small group of men who become trapped in a diving pod at the bottom of the sea after an accident. Cue increasing tension as the oxygen starts to run out and hopes of rescue get more and more dim. Also starring Matthew Goode and featuring many significant stares.

Sinister 2

Irish director Ciaran Foy (Citadel) takes a step up into the big leagues with Sinister 2. It’s the sequel to the 2012 box office hit starring Ethan Hawke and sees another family being terrorised by the same freaky spirit. Lots of scary kids and frightening images here, earning the film an 18s cert in cinemas.

Vacation

Remember National Lampoon’s Vacation? Given that it came out in 1983 probably not but this is a semi sequel/reboot thing which features a grown up Rusty Griswold taking his family cross country to visit Walley World. And things don’t go particularly well. Starring Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann and Chris Hemsworth.
