There's no Skyrim sequel coming for ages

The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim famously launched on 11/11/11. That's already almost four years ago and there's no word on a sequel to the long-running series. And don't count on there being one soon.

There's no Skyrim sequel coming for ages

Bethesda's VP of Marketing Pete Hines was chatting with Dualshockers at Gamescom about Fallout 4 and briefly addressed the company's other series. The bottom line it will be a 'very long time' before anyone is talking about a sequel to Skyrim.

The main reason for that is Fallout 4, which is currently on the home stretch for a November 10th 2015 release. Bethesda is committed to getting the game out in the best shape possible, and also supporting it post release with updates and DLC. As a company, they like to be able to focus on a single title completely both pre and post launch to give their audience the best possible experience.

Consider that the last fully Bethesda Fallout game - Fallout 3 - shipped in 2008, making it a massive seven years between installments. Even by that standard we've got another three years before the Skyrim sequel is late! And if you are desperate for a Tamriel fix, The Elder Scrolls Online recently released on consoles in an updated edition which has been garnering decent reviews a full year on from the muted reception on PC.

For now, feel secure in the knowledge that Bethesda is preparing another immense visit to the Wasteland where you'll be able to lose yourselves for hundreds of hours. And someday your Skyrim will come!

Fallout 4 is coming to consoles and PC on the 10th of November 2015.
