VIDEOS: EA brings out its major franchises at Gamescom – Star Wars Battlefront FIFA 16 and more
One of the most eagerly anticipated titles of the year is Star Wars Battlefront. We got to see the world premiere of the Fighter Squadron mode, in which the Rebels were tasked with stopping an Imperial transport from making its getaway.
EA also mentioned that 20 AI fighters will populate the battle, so it will feel like a dogfight. Star Wars Battlefront will be released in November.
Need for Speed’s narrative is explained in the Gamescom trailer, which also hints at some of the customisation options players will have and showcases souped up vehicles racing around at breakneck speeds. And a second trailer introduces the icons of the game and the different ways that you can play.
Further off in the release calendar is Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. EA showed off around five minutes of gameplay, which shows off the world, Faith in full flight, and some of the hand-to-hand combat moves that players will have at their disposal. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be released in February, 2016.
Unsurprisingly, FIFA 16 made an appearance with EA’s David Rutter outlining some of the new features and improvements across the pitch.
Players will be more defensively capable, will have more purpose in midfield, and will be capable of creating spectacular goals.
He also introduced Ultimate Team Draft, a mode that gives you the chance to put together a star-studded squad with ease before taking them into matches to earn rewards.
It wasn’t just its biggest and best franchises that EA highlighted at Gamescom. Gameplay footage from the delightful indie puzzle platformer Unravel was also shown off. It looks very cute, and Coldwood Interactive is hoping that it will challenge players and touch their hearts. Unravel will be released early next year.
