Rebecca Ferguson thought Tom Cruise was crazy only once on Mission Impossible

Talking with people about working with Tom Cruise is an interesting thing - on the one hand its impossible to ignore his powerful celebrity and the sense of mystique which surrounds him but it seems, for the most part, that he's a pretty normal bloke on set.

Co-star Rebecca Ferguson got to meet him during casting for the film, and it was all quite rushed but surprisingly easy-going:

"BAM – there’s Tom Cruise in front of me! I thought I’d have a second to drink coffee and relax and it was just the most normal meeting. When you see someone and you expect yourself to be a bit starstruck but there was no time because he was just the most caring man"

She also spoke about how he was always up for a laugh together with co-star Simon Pegg, and a challenge, including trying to one up eachother in the gym during intense six hour training sessions. But there was one moment where he seemed a little less ordinary:

"The airplane! It’s enough I mean come on, who stands on the wing of an airplane and does it laughing! Tom Cruise does. And he goes ‘do you want to be on the other wing’ and I said ‘no darling I’m just going to sit down and have a cup of coffee tell me what it was like later!’"

So Tom Cruise - a totally normal man... except when he's strapped to the outside of a military aircraft and hanging on for dear life while it travels up to 5000 feet in the air. A stunt which the actor performed EIGHT TIMES for the new movie.

The man really will go all out to capture the best real-life stunts for his audience, and that's very impressive indeed.

Mission Impossible Rogue Nation is in cinemas now. Read the full interview with Rebecca Ferguson here.
