Huawei launches Snapys awards for Irish Instagram photographers

Huawei launched the Snapys last night, an independent award for the Instagram community in Ireland.

The competition is open to anyone with 20 categories to enter photos for. Among the categories are food, fashion, arts & culture, animals, humour, friends, Ireland, and even selfies.

There’s no doubting the love of a good selfie in Ireland. Apparently we take eight times more selfies than England and forty times more than those in the United States.

All you have to do to enter the competition is take a snap, and upload it to Instagram with #huaweisnapys and a hashtag for your preferred category. You don’t even have to take a new photo; you can tag an old photo that you think fits the bill.

The first phase of voting leaves it up to the public to choose their favourites, which will result in a shortlist that the panel of judges will choose winners from.

There are some amazing prizes to be won, including Huawei P8 handsets, all-important bragging rights, and experiences tailored to the winners’ interests.

You can start entering right now. The voting process begins on September 1st. And the winners will be announced at an awards night in October.
