Splatoon getting more free content in August

Splatoon players will soon get their hands on a whole heap of free content as part of August’s update.

Splatoon getting more free content in August

The update will be released on August 5th, adding new matchmaking modes, new weapon types, an increase to the game’s level cap and more than 40 pieces of new gear.

August’s update will introduce two new matchmaking modes: Squad Battle and Private Battle. Squad Battle lets players participate in Ranked Battle rule sets with friends rather than being teamed up with randomers.

Private Battle lets players duke it out in private, customisable matches. Two to eight players can battle it out and the teams don’t have to be even. If one player is much better than the rest, you can make it challenging for them by giving the other side more players.

Two new weapon types will be included in the update. The bucket-like Slosher weapons hurl ink straight ahead at range, while the Splatling lets players charge blasts of all-powerful ink.

More free content will be rolled out over the summer and autumn, including the new Rainmaker Ranked Battle mode, additional maps and new weapons.
