Stephen Hawking is doing a Reddit AMA
The academic will take part in a special Reddit AMA over the coming weeks. It's special because the format has been tweaked to accomodate his ALS disease, so it won't be happening live. Instead, anyone who wants to ask him a question will submit them right over here between the 27th of July and the 4th of August. Hawking will get the chance to respond at his own pace, and his answers will appear over the next week weeks on the site.
Hawking wants to use the platform to create a discussion about Artificial Intelligence, and he's coming at it from a very specific viewpoint. Instead of seeing the development of AI as a necessary part of technology invention, he thinks there are many dangers inherent with creating one and wants to make sure there are steps in place to keep any such creation contained.
