VIDEO: FIFA 16 cover will feature female players for the first time

They’re finally in the game, and now they’re on the cover too. EA revealed that FIFA 16 will feature female players on the cover in the US, Canada and Australia.

The US cover will feature Alex Morgan of the US team, who recently won the Women's World Cup; Canadian captain Christine Sinclair will adorn the FIFA 16 cover in Canada; while Australia’s Stephanie Catley will star on the cover in her home country. All three will appear on the cover alongside Messi.

EA revealed ahead of the Women's World Cup in June that players would be able to play as one of the top twelve Women's National Teams. USA’s Alex Morgan said at the time, “It is such an honor for women's players and our team to be included in FIFA 16.”

Messi will appear on the global cover on his own. He will be joined on the cover in a few other countries by selected players.

FIFA 16 will be released on September 24th on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Android, and iOS.
